Program Overview
This CD-ROM is one of the firsts in SCHOLASTIC’s Learning Through Literature series. Based on the book by Gary Soto with illustrations by Susan Guevara, the program is centered on the story of a clever family of mice who outwit Chato, the mambo-loving cat.

Classroom Appropriate
Its colorful illustrations, zesty music, and lively narration greatly enhance the learning experience as students listen to and read the story and participate in its many related activities. Optional Video side-trips let students learn new words and concepts in context as they listen to and watch the story. Students can click specially highlighted story text to access rhyming definitions and synonyms.

Easy-to-Use
The program’s level system allows both pre-readers and readers appropriate levels of challenge in its many reading skills activities. There are also several printable activities designed to further strengthen literacy skills which can be done away from the computer.
